A Peaceful Moment

The morning light filters down through the new leaves onto the forest floor. Both the red and white Trillium flowers are in full bloom and stand tall. The mountain is alive. The birds dart about through the underbrush catching insects on the wing. The aroma of my morning coffee wafts across the land mingling with the new moss that is currently overtaking the old log which sleeps among the ferns. I open the hard shell case and begin to fit the lens to my camera body. The peaceful day brings just the sense of tranquility that I crave. I’m convinced that this is the reason my ancestors call these mountains “God’s country”. The Bible says that God doesn’t speak with thunder but with a still small voice. You can talk with God from anywhere but if you want to listen to Him… Well, that’s easier when you get out away from the noise. As the peace is being spoken into my spirit I think about what it means to my daily life. Of course, nobody is perfect. We all have those times when we blow it but in general It’s easier to hold your peace when you’ve got it with you in the first place. I find my sanctuary in nature but other people might go to a library or coffee shop or in some of the larger cities people just get on the train and ride with no particular destination. Whatever it is that you do its your quiet time. That time which is all yours when you can hear that still small voice. Don’t neglect it. embrace it and take that peace with you no matter where you go.
