A Short Trip To The Reflecting Pool

Hello Friends! Tonight’s Feature Image is titled “Emerald Ripples 91121a” and is available for purchase by clicking the thumbnail and reaching out to me on the contact page.

Cool waters flow gently from my mountain and gather in a special place on the edge of my property. I’ve come to think of this spot as my own personal reflecting pool. Now most reflecting pools are synthetic structures of cement, steel or plastic and hold the water captive. Perhaps a fountain that provides a small show at certain times of day is placed in pool and people cast in their small coins to make wishes. But my spot is nature’s handiwork. It ripples and flows. It’s alive and free to come and go as it pleases. In place of a fountain a good spring feeds a small cascade that leaps into the flow. Moss and ferns gaurd it’s boundaries and each season casts it’s tones across the surface. As the season changes from summer into fall the changing leaves with their brilliant hues show up as a blaze on the rippling shoals. And there’s always a form of life here. Sometimes I spot a Heron stalking in the shadows with the water around his legs and sharp eyes that look for the smallest disturbance in the patterns of ripples that indicate his prize is near. The rains will rearrange the stones and causes the ripples to change slightly so that I always have a new flow to explore. Songbirds gather in the shallow pools to bath and play and sometimes even the crows can be found searching the stream for shiny objects to adorn their nests. Butterflies gather on the soft edges and sip the cool water along with their precious salt. And I come here to find a little solitude and enjoy the light as it wades through the ripples.

Good night friends and be blessed throughout your days.
