The new snow covers the wild places in a glistening white blanket. It’s not cold enough to freeze the moving water yet but little crystal clear balls of ice are hanging from every branch and twig. Deep within the brush tiny feet scurry throughout the landscape digging for the nuts, seeds and berries that are stashed away for hard times. The bramble is full of little wings that flutter in the tangled canes collecting rose hips and holly berries. Somewhere in the distance an old crow cackles at a joke that nobody else remembers. The winter world if full of life. We only have to look a little closer.

Lloyd, it is so true there is life in winter. Im my yard, there are rabbit tracks, squirrels, ptarmigan, moose, fox, ravens, hawks and owls. Many interesting critters to be seen.

Thank you Hazel. My day job keeps me from being able to get out and explore but I did hear a fox screaming a few nights ago.
