The fading sun beckons the nightshift with one last spray of color into the summer sky.
Someone climbs the stairs and looks into West as the daylight fades.
Someone lights the lamp as the starlight glows in a sea of black velvet.
Someone listens to the Whip-poor-will, the Owls and the Nighthawk call into darkness.
The voices of late night radio talk shows are the only companions as the firefly echoes the sweeping Beacon
The third watch begins.
The smell of the fresh brewed coffee fills a small office.
As the night progresses the sound of the wheels in contact with pavement adds ambiance in the moonlight.
Cool breezes bring the scent of the morning dew and the last bit of coffee lingers in the cup.
Heavy eyes welcome the first spray of light with a peaceful joy and the third watch comes to a close.
