The cold morning air settles into the valley causing a thick fog to rise. The sun arrived a little late because of the clouds but darkness is no match for piercing glare of old number 1100 as it idles on tracks waiting for crew to come in and pick up the journey where they left off for the night. The powerful diesel engine powers an electric generator that turns the wheels. The strength of seven thousand horses eagerly anticipates the command to move over fifteen thousand tons of coal. The brakes are released and with a scream of moving metals the train begins to drift forward. Thunderous booms echo through the mountains as each linkage engages and another load of electricity is on the way.
