The fog clings to river as my big blue truck delivers me to the foot of Gauley Mountain. I’ve come to the place where the three rivers merge to seek out a moment of tranquility. The fog was thick enough to almost be considered a fourth river complete with its own eddies and currents as it spills through the valley. I was focused on the three crosses on the other side of the river when a heard that familiar song. The music wasn’t coming from the radio in the truck but from a clump of twigs near the road. The little sparrow sang only once and then played in the twigs a few minutes before darting off. I suppose that he just decided to stop and say hello. But isn’t it wonderful how one song that is well sung can improve your day?
