Evening Gathering

Hello Friends! Tonight’s Feature Image is titled “Evening Gathering 91421” and is available for purchase by clicking the thumbnail and reaching out to me on the contact page.

Shadows awaken as the last rays of the sun spill over the mountains and softly settle into the landscape. With only minutes left until the the cool blanket of night covers the forest all of the little bees waste no time in completing their tasks. I stand on the edge of the lawn and watch as the flowers sway with their tiny visitors. Behind me is the buzz of a hummingbird as she makes her way to the feeders. They say you should take your feeders down in September but I generally leave mine up until the jewelweed stops blooming. Jewelweed is a natural food source for the little hummingbirds and as long as they are blooming removing the extra food source only makes the hummingbirds have to work harder to build energy for their long flight. She doesn’t stay long. Just a few sips and she’s off again. The bees continue their work to build reserves for the coming winter and they don’t miss a single bloom. The Asters will bloom here well into December and even into early February if they grow near large rock to hold the heat of the sun. Time slips from our grasp the same as the evening dew flows from the pedals of our wildflowers. Like the little bees we have to make the most of each day.

Good night friends and be blessed throughout your days.
