Have you ever had that feeling that you were being watched? I’m often amused by the reaction of wildlife when the human walks into their domain as if he owns the place. I’ve noticed that animals seem to go out of their ways to watch the people. The little moth in the feature image it only wondered out of her hiding place in broad daylight but actually landed in font of my lens and leaned out from the blade of grass as if to say “peek-a-boo!”. We expect our pets to have a personality and it’s not surprising to see larger mammals exhibit playfulness but I never expected that from an insect. She did her little peeking routine for me a few more times and then fluttered back into the trees. I hope my next excursion into nature is just as fruitful.

I guess moths want to have fun too. βΊοΈ In our culture, it is rumoured that moths carry messages from the dead which is pretty grim and so we are not allowed to harm them.

I have not heard about messages from the dead but we have the legend of the Mothman here. If you see him it foretells disasters. But that’s just a story…I hope π€ lol

My mom use to say seeing a moth meant death was near by so I never wanted to see one, lol.

We have a lot of Hawk moths on our property. Every time the dig has to go potty he lets three of them fly in with him.

That is scary. I just hope it was myths they spun us. π

That is awesome and cute! When I was a teenager I came across a tarantula and was startled at coming upon it. I had mixed emotions of surprise, fear, horror at its hairness but, then our eyes locked. It was so weird, I had never been this close to one and we just stared at each other waiting to see what the other would do. It had big eyes and it was kinda gross, then I realized I have big eyes too lol. We scrutinized each other as I slowly backed away from it our eyes never leaving each other until I was far away enough to turn and run lol. True story π

Oh WOW! The largest spiders we have are the Huntsman spiders. They’re harmless like the tarantula but they will bluff and chase you. One chased me out of my tractor shed a few summers ago.

Oh yeah, I’m a pretty large guy being chased by a spider who only weighs an ounce or too. And I was screaming like a little kid. π
