New Beginnings

When you realize that each day is a precious gift it makes you grateful for the morning.  Last fall I was in the worst crash in my life.  I seem to be okay so far.  But, it did make me realize how fragile life is. Life’s too short to spend it in bitterness and resentment.  No matter what has happened you’ve been given another chance to make the best of it.  Sometimes that means leaving broken pieces behind.  Sometimes it’s going to mean taking time to heal.  There will be pain to one degree or another but it will pass.  It’s a new day, make the most of it.

The River Awakens

Morning in the mountains of Appalachia can be spectacular.  The fury of old man winter is no match for the warm southern sun. Fire bursts over the mountains and the frost shrinks back little by little until nothing is left.

The Kanawha River blazing with the light of a new day begins to shake itself free of its icy cage. The river has work to get done today.  Barges must be moved and energy has to be produced.  Downstream there’s hot steel to be quenched and tempered.  It’s a very busy day ahead for the mighty Kanawha River.

Into the dawn

Every day is a new beginning.  Every moment is the opportunity to build the future.  Every child of 80s knows in his or her heart that the future is so bright that we gotta wear shades.  😎 I could focus on not knowing where the road goes but I choose to focus instead on the bright day lying just beyond the fog. I’m looking for big things to happen in 2018.  I hope they happen for you too.

Golden Dawn on the Kanawha River

This image was also taken the morning of October 28th 2017.  The building on the left is the hydroelectric power plant that supports the local foundry.   The Kanawha Falls seen here are part of system that incorporates a manmade dam with the natural beauty of the falls.  The light in spot doesn’t always cooperate with the lense but this time the sky made up for past disappointments.

Fiery Morning Over The New River

You never know what you’re going to find on the other side of the mountains in West Virginia.   Move forward in faith and God does the rest.  This beautiful sunrise occurred the morning of October 28th 2017 in Gauley Bridge West Virginia just a short drive from Hawk’s Nest State Park.
